Yoga for Beginners

When I went to my first yoga class I remember thinking "oh, is this yoga?" I always thought yoga was very passive exercise and meditation. Of course, I had no idea. Yoga started as a physical exercise for me as I did not know the poses or the alignment and then gently became mental and spiritual along with physicality.

I am offering gentle introduction to fundamental yoga Poses. Basic alignment of poses in a sequence will be shown.

Yoga for Cancer

My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer when she was 60yrs old. She fought the disease like no other I have seen. Her will power and strength, her ability to smile and live life to the fullest in spite of the side effects of her chemo treatment amazed me. Unfortunatley she lost her battle to the disease after 5yrs. Yoga helped me with my battle to overcome my grief at her loss. My mom taught me how important it is to live life to the fullest in spite of life's challenges. I trained in Yoga for Cancer after mom's demise. This is my passion and tribute to her. 

 

The yoga sequence will use necessary props and modifications to address your needs. Poses to address side effects will be addressed. The sequence will use scientific basis of yoga to help aid your lymphatic system.

          Yoga Therapy
 

This is an individual based class. I utilize my educational background as a Physical Therapist and a Yoga Therapist to cater to what the individual needs most. It is a combination of pain relief with stretches and strengthening with Yoga asanas mixed in with mindfullness to offer an individualized programme just for YOU.

Restorative Yoga

Things happen in our life that may not be in our control but it brings grief or sorrow. Sometimes things that are in our control spiral out of bounds which leads to stress and sorrow. We are also pushed to the brink with work, home chores and constant social media. This constant stress makes our body and muscles tense and puts our mind in a constant mode of fight or flight.

 

The yoga poses will use comprehensive breathing to silence your muscles and your brain and will get you to relax and unwind in the pose. we will work to achieve no mind chatter and melt into silence in the pose so you can recover from the stressors of life.
